MUSIC CLUB (Times to be arranged)

Teacher: Mrs Ashton Osbourne

As part of the school Music club, I will introduce pupils to both the instrument and the basics of music theory. The recorder is the perfect instrument to introduce children to music and all it has to offer, and is often used as a stepping stone towards playing other wind instruments.

Initially, pupils will learn about the correct way to hold the instrument and how to stand to encourage good breathing technique. Over the course of the year, pupils will learn about simple rhythms and musical notation as well as learning transferable skills such as team work and confidence in performing for others. We will learn well known songs that cater to pupil interest as well as pieces that encourage good technique. As a goal for the pupils, I aim for the group – or individuals – to perform for the school and local community to share all that they have learned.
