Welcome to Our Wonderful Year 2 Class
A warm welcome back to school, Year 2
I hope you had a wonderful holiday and are ready for a busy and exciting year ahead.
My name is Mrs Shaw and I am very privileged yet again to be teaching your child this year.
‘Nothing is impossible with God’
Eastertide – Role Playing scenes for the Ressurection Story
Author Workshop – Bethan Woolvin
We had a super workshop with the Author Bethan Woolvin, who talked to us about how she gets inspired to write her stories through art. She read us a story, showed us around her workshop and guided us through a drawing workshop where we created our very own Tree Troll. We feel very lucky to have had the chance to listen and talk with a real Author and especially one with whom we have read most of their books.
Easter Fun
Easter Cards
Stations of the Cross
Mothers Day Cards
World Book Day 2022
We had an amazing day dressed in our Pyjamas and exploring all things wonderful about books and reading for World Book Day 2022.
Shrove Tuesday 2022
Traditionally, people cooked and ate pancakes to mark the beginning of Lent by using remaining rich ingredients such as flour, milk and eggs that wouldn’t be allowed to be eaten during the next 40 days, so they wouldn’t go off. We enjoyed marking this day today with a choice of toppings and enjoying being back together after the half term break.
Road Safety Pedestrian Training- February 2022
We learnt how to cross the road safely, how to use the Green Cross Code correctly and how to always stay safe when we are out and about with our family.
The Epiphany
We celebrated the Epiphany today, when the Three Kings reached Baby Jesus.
Elf Day and Tree Dressing
We had a very fun day in school today, as we all dressed up as festive Elves and decorated our school Christmas tree. Singing Christmas songs in the hall.
Advent Liturgy
We came together as Key Stage 1 to listen, sing and prasie in our Advent Liturgy. We talked about why this time of year is so important what the Advent wreath respresents and how we can make our own special journey through advent by making an Advent promise to be a better person, to help others around us and to spread kindness and love where ever we go.
Remembrance Day 2021
Today we remembered all those that were and are still affected by war in our world. We observed 2 minutes silence and prayed for all those that have died in war and prayed for their many families. We made beautiful watercolour paintings of Flanders Fields and created stained glass poppies. We also wrote acrostic poems, completed wordsearches and made poppy wreaths. A wonderful day of remembrance.
St Francis Of Assisi Feast Day – 4th October
Our class enjoyed celebrating the Feast of St Francis today in class, we learnt lots about who St Francis was and how important his way of living is to us today. We made bird feeders and celebrated with a little party of crisps and buns.
RE Focus Day – Places of Worship – The Mosque
We enjoyed a full day learning about Islam today and how Muslims worship. We were very lucky to have some experts in our class to help show us how Muslims prayer and how important it is that we know about how other Faiths worship and how this can be different to the way we worship. We even made our very own Mosques and learnt the difffernt names of the special parts of the the Mosque in the inside as well as the outside.
Skelton Grange – Robin Hood Adventure Day – Summer 2021
We had an amazing educational visit to Skelton Grange, which was brilliant after the restriction through lockdown to be able to take the children to somewhere safe and where we could have so much fun! Using the theme of Robin Hood we explored the woodland areas, making dens, hiding from the guards, pretending to be Robin Hood and his merry men, we performed an ambush and saved all our teddies that were stolen by the guards. We learnt and saw first hand how a camp fire is made and even sampled real popping popcorn over the campfire it was delicious! We had a wonderfyl day and I think the phots say it all.
