Welcome to Year 2
Hello, my name is Miss Pratt and I am the teacher in Year 2.
I have been a teacher for over ten years, mainly in Key Stage 1, but this has been my first year at St Francis. I have really enjoyed getting to know everyone and have been made to feel very welcome by the whole school community.
I have wanted to be a teacher ever since I was a little girl and remember playing schools with my dolls and younger siblings! As a child, I was always inspired by the work we did in school and had the opportunity to learn a wide range of skills, many of which I still enjoy today. I aim to offer that same experience to the children in my class and develop a life long love of learning. My favourite thing about teaching is when you see pupils really engaged in exploring something new and keen to find out more by asking lots of questions. Curiosity, perseverance and resilience are such important personal qualities which I aim to develop through thought provoking challenges. I also enjoy planning a range of learning opportunities include drama, active challenges and using the outdoor environment as much as possible. My favourite subjects are Maths and Music and I take every opportunity to sing with my class. In my spare time, I also love to read and bring this passion into school by sharing books with children to promote a love of reading.
