Special Educational Needs & Disabilities

At St.Francis of Assisi Catholic Primary School, we pride ourselves on the support we provide our SEND pupils with. We tailor our curriculum to provide a personalised timetable and differentiated work for those who need it. This is outlined in the SEND School Offer and SEND Policy (see documents above).

LEADERSHIP

Our Headteacher Mrs Snejberkova-Taylor is also the schools SENCO. Mrs Snejberkova-Taylor leads the team which includes a SEND Support Officer –  Mrs K. Smith, Family Welfare Officer – Mrs D. Daniels and 8 SEND Support assistants.

  • Each class has a Class teacher, a learning support assistant and a SEND support assistant.
  • All our SEND support assistants are trained in level 1 and 2 autism, colourful semantics and are regularly sent on specific training to be able to meet and support the needs of their children in class.
  • As a school we buy additional time with the NHS Speech and Language therapist to support our children and provide training for staff due to a high level of children with communication and interaction difficulties.
  • Should you have any questions regarding your child’s learning and development, or their social and emotional needs please speak with your class teacher or make an appointment to see Mrs Smith or Mrs Snejberkova-Taylor
